How can you possibly qualify for the $ZKS airdrop?

ZkSync 1.0, launched by Matter Labs in 2020, is a zero-knowledge rollup (ZKR) that relies on Ethereum for security and is mostly used for token swaps or transfers. It does not support smart contracts, so the products available on zkSync 1.0 today are limited, leading to inferior adoption relative to other Ethereum scaling solutions. The Matter Labs team is hoping to fix that by launching their alpha zkSync 2.0, a zkEVM, on mainnet on October 28th. Furthermore, Matter Labs announced it will be launching an L3 on testnet by Q1 of 2023.

The zkEVM race has been heating up between Scroll, zkSync, and Polygon, but zkSync looks to be winning with its mainnet alpha launching at the end of October. It’s hard to understate the potential impact a first-mover advantage could have on the team to cross the finish line first. MATIC was launched as one of the first EVM-compatible chains back in 2017 before rebranding to Polygon in February 2021 and was able to attract a significant number of dApps and users in the midst of skyrocketing Ethereum transaction fees. It is relatively easy to migrate applications to EVM-compatible chains by redeploying similar code. Whichever team is the first to launch a zkEVM could see an explosion of dApp deployments and user activity, therefore establishing strong network effects like Polygon did in 2021.

WEN?

ZkSync 2.0 hits the Mainnet in 24 hours! It is expected that the tokenomics announcement will be released soon after and hopefully the airdrop announcement will be made in late November. However, all the speculations are not confirmed. Although the Mainnet will go live on Oct.28- but for 1 month nobody other than the zkSync team will be allowed to use it. The Fair Launch Alpha will not be released until Nov 22 and only developers can access it. The worst case is that users have to wait for months to get the airdrop.

However, it also gives us more time to interact with the Testnet and increases our possibility of qualifying for the $ZKS airdrop.

HOW?

The biggest Airdrop recently is Aptos happened this month. Everyone wants to chase the next testnet airdrop.

First of all, the chance is small as zkSync already had multiple regenesis events whereby all Tx history was been wiped. The latest regenesis happened on Oct 25th.

So, what are the possible criteria? Few speculations are made by the community so far. We think the most possible one is rewarding the users committed to Ethereum ethos and public goods.

But still, @wagame.eth prepared us a cheat sheet with some possible criteria the team could potentially require, marked with their opinion: green dot means essential and red dot means not.
