3. Trade Review
3.1 Market Background
November 20: Bloomberg reported that President-elect Donald Trump’s team is considering creating a dedicated position for cryptocurrency policy within the White House. Candidates for this role are under review. The appointee would lead a small team and serve as a liaison among Congress, the White House, and cryptocurrency regulators.
November 21: SEC Chair Gary Gensler announced his resignation effective January 20. Gensler’s ambitious reform plans faced significant opposition from Wall Street and the cryptocurrency sector.
November 26: A U.S. court overturned the sanctions on Tornado Cash smart contracts, marking a significant victory for privacy rights in the cryptocurrency industry and setting a precedent against excessive government intervention. The ruling sparked a major rebound for TORN tokens.
November 27: The U.S. Commerce Department reported that the Federal Reserve’s favored inflation gauge rose to 2.8% in October, up from September, reinforcing the Fed’s cautious approach to rate cuts.
December 5: President-elect Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he would nominate Paul Atkins as SEC Chair. Paul Atkins, a former SEC commissioner during the George W. Bush administration, is known for opposing “hefty penalties imposed on companies violating securities laws.” He previously opposed the Dodd-Frank Act, which expanded federal regulatory authority following the 2008 financial crisis.
Atkins continues to serve at Patomak Global Partners, a consulting firm he founded in 2009. Since 2017, he has also co-chaired Token Alliance, an industry association advocating for the digital asset and blockchain sector.
3.2 Trade Analysis
From November 24 to December 5, Bitcoin’s 4-hour chart showed continuous surges followed by high-level consolidation, ultimately breaking the $10 threshold. Key developments:
November 21: With SEC Chair Gary Gensler confirming his resignation, cryptocurrencies like XRP, ADA, and SOL — previously classified as securities by the SEC — experienced sharp rallies.
SOL Resistance: SOL encountered resistance near its all-time high of $260, while Bitcoin began to show signs of consolidation.
November 24: SOL failed to sustain its upward momentum, oscillating between $260 and $253. A short position was initiated near the upper boundary of this range at approximately $260.
Subsequent Decline: SOL followed Bitcoin’s downward trend despite minor rebounds, maintaining an overall bearish trajectory.
December 5: Bitcoin rallied significantly after President-elect Trump announced his intention to nominate Paul Atkins, a pro-crypto advocate, as SEC Chair. This surge drove Bitcoin prices past $100,000, peaking near $105,000.
At this point, SOL short positions were closed, as shown in the chart below:
3.3 Winning Strategies Summary
Understand the process — trade the trade!
Trading is fundamentally a probability game, with no guarantee of success in any single trade. Expanding one’s perspective to focus on overall success rather than individual outcomes is key.
The Trading Process:
- Market Formation: Observe market behavior.
- Anticipation: Analyze trader sentiment.
- Confirmation: Match trader actions to market behavior.
- Execution: Open positions based on analysis.
- Risk Management: Set stop-loss levels.
- Adjust Positions: Adapt based on market responses.
- Closure: Close positions in response to market behavior.
The market is never reactive to individual preferences. As traders, we remain passive, while the market drives the action. Successful trading involves following the market’s lead and making the most reasonable and timely responses.
Note: Personal opinion, for reference only. Opportunities and risks abound, always do your research before investing.
